A note from Blaze

Whether I'm working with toddlers clapping their hands for the very first time, a teenager writing their first song, or an adult finally picking up the guitar they've always wanted to learn, my goal is always the same: to help people build confidence, discover their creativity, and connect with themselves, others, and their art.

I grew up in a family where creativity was simply part of everyday life. Music, art, and storytelling were always around me, and by thirteen I had picked up my first guitar and started writing songs of my own. Songwriting quickly became the way I processed life's highs and lows, celebrated joy, and found my own voice.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of teaching students of all ages through organizations like Girls Rock Indy, Bach To Rock, and Carmel Music Academy, directing musical theatre and coaching performers in Nashville TN, and performing professionally as both a solo artist and front-woman of several bands. Each experience has shaped me—not just as a musician, but as a teacher and a person.

But becoming a mom changed me more than anything else.

Watching my daughter discover the world has reminded me that learning happens best when people feel encouraged, celebrated, and free to make mistakes. Those little moments of curiosity, laughter, and growth are what I strive to create in every lesson, every class, every workshop, and every community event.

That's why I started Second Verse Studios.

I wanted to create more than a music school. I wanted to build a place where people of every age could create, connect, and be heard—a place where creativity is celebrated, mistakes are welcomed, and music becomes a way to build confidence, connection, and community.

Whether you're looking for your child's very first music class, private lessons, or a place to reconnect with your own creativity, I'm so glad you're here.

My Teaching Philosophy

Creativity isn't something reserved for the "talented" - It is something EVERY PERSON deserves to experience.

I believe everyone is creative.

I believe music education should be about so much more than learning notes, chords, or songs.

The best learning happens when people feel safe enough to take risks, make mistakes, ask questions, and discover what they're capable of. Whether someone is two years old or seventy, confidence grows through curiosity, encouragement, and connection—not perfection.

That's why I lead every class and lesson with connection first.

I want my students to laugh, move, create, collaborate, and feel seen. Technical skills absolutely matter, but they become much more meaningful when they're paired with confidence, creativity, and genuine joy.

Music is simply the vehicle.

The real goal is helping people find their voice, trust themselves, connect with others, and discover that they are capable of creating something beautiful.
